MyD20 Lite: Latest Draft of Referee's Guide is posted...

Good Morning, All:

I know it's been a long time coming, but for those interested, I have posted rough draft version 5 of the MyD20 Lite Referee's Guide to my Google Site provided below:

While it is still not complete, you can tell that we are moving in that direction. Please take some time to review the document and let me know your thoughts, concerns, suggestions and feedback as you are able.

With Warm Regards,
Flynn

Arghh! I just lost a massively long and detailed comment, when the post failed to submit and when I used the 'back' button on the browser I got a blank comment box.

In short: The progression of monster stats seems very powerful compared with the progression of PC abilities (e.g. Save DC progresses at 0.75/level while PC save bonuses progress with the CLM at +0.5/level and damage bonuses progresses at +0.5/level whereas the PC's hp are 'capped' at level 9 with only a minor increase beyond that level.

I'd like to see some kind of slowing of the Save DC to +0.5/level a cap of +5 to the damage bonus at 10 HD and a cap on ALL monster stat progression at 20 HD. The elite/solo monster rules (which I really like!) as well as the modifications by monster type are sufficient to make monsters tougher beyond those guidlines.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the game, but the numbers look to me like they won't 'work' for high level play.

Also, monster stats are using "Magic Resistance" (MR), whereas the Player's guide talks of "Spell Resistance"

Also (x2). I forgot to say that I think your Referee's Guide is shaping up to be a really nice product!

@James:

I will definitely be changing the "Magic Resistance" to "Spell Resistance". Thanks for catching that.

In regards to the math behind my choices, I'll be doing a series of posts soon to reflect my reasoning behind them, and explore some of the elements you've discussed here.

BTW, the solo and elite rules are from Trailblazer, by Bad Axe Games, if you are interested in checking out more work of a similar nature.

Hope This Helps,
Flynn
